On Friday 30th January we managed to avoid the threatening rain to hold our annual inter-house athletics meeting. The children all dressed in the colours of their respective houses sang loudly and cheered their teammates. The three houses continue our tree theme for the school and they are Jacaranda in blue, Willow in red, and Mopani in yellow. The loud singing, cheering and music livened up the neighbourhood.
This is what one neighbour Estie Morgan had to say, “Just want to say thank you for brightening up my day with the gorgeous music from the sports field! Hearing the children’s voices, their excitement brings a much needed warmth into my heart.”

Willow house was victorious with a whopping 302 points. The winning athletes will compete in the inter-school athletics on 5th March.

New Grade R site at Melpark Primary

Due to the increase in the number of admissions in 2015, we were able to establish a 3rd Grade R class.  The new appointed teacher is Concilia Malinga.

Leadership is more than holding positions of power…

Leadership is more than holding positions of power and authority. Leadership is a realisation of our true potential.

We need to realise the perfection of birth and the magic given to us at conception and guaranteed with our first breath. We want to choose hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord, and to never allow ourselves to fall into the social hypnosis of thinking that the outside world ultimately controls our life, when we could realise that each day is resplendent with opportunities to become powerful beyond belief.

When we view every second as an opportunity bursting with potential and calling for energy, we have the chance to enrich our lives and the lives around us. Through our actions we create a ripple effect.
