Principal’s Book Club

The book club was initiated by Principal, Nalini Padayachee. In this day and age reading for pleasure competes with countless activities such as TV, computer games, play stations and mobile devices as a form of entertainment for children. The Principal’s book club was established to inspire children to read and to encourage students to make reading their first choice of activity as a form of entertainment and to exercise their imagination.

Each week, 12 learners are invited to the Principal’s office for tea and cake and to discuss the book they have read or are reading. The learners talk about the books they have read and the Principal uses this opportunity to stimulate discussions about various different topics. They cover certain life skills and stimulate creative and analytical thinking.
